Frieze Block

This example of a frieze block, belonging to an embossed or decorated central section, is made of marble. There is an ion-kyma border at the top of the piece, dated to the 2nd century. Circular acanthus motifs can be found on the frieze belt, with four-leaf flower motifs within each. In the border on the lower section of the object, there are stylized palmettes, ion-kyma, and astragal patterns, respectively.
