Paper shears

19. yüzyıl

The handles of the shears are designed to form the words ‘Yâ Ali’, probably as a reminder of the fact that early development of the Arabic script is attributed to the Caliph Ali. Apart from the ring grips themselves, the entire surface, including the inside of the handles, is covered with gold inlay decoration in the form of rumi motifs and flowering branches. The ring grips have finials in the form of rumi motifs.
