This album consists of six kıt’as (calligraphic compositions) by Derviş Ali. They are arranged as one line of sülüs followed by two or three lines of nesih, another of sülüs, and two or three lines of nesih. The texts are hadith or oral traditions of the Prophet Muhammad on the subjects of thankfulness, making do with what one has, abandoning bad habits, the evil of human beings, and the fate that awaits cruel rulers. The colophon in the rectangular framed space next to the lines of nesih in the last kıt’a is written in rıka script and reads, ‘Written in the year 1075 by God’s weakest servant Derviş Ali with thanks to God for His blessings, and with prayers to the Prophet Muhammad and all his family and disciples.’ The margins are decorated with vassale collage in jade green and pink paper flecked with silver. The ruled borders and stops are gilded and the framed rectangular spaces next to the lines of nesih are undecorated, except for the second page, where they are decorated with a leaf filled with rumi motifs on a gold ground. The binding of this concertina album is of plain black leather.
