Adult Education: Glamour of Byzantium
Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum’s ‘Adult Education Programs’ continue with courses on Byzantine history. The event, entitled ‘Glamour of Byzantium’, will be held in English.

The courses, focusing on the mark left by Byzantine Empire on Mediterranean, will commence on 9 November, Thursday. The four-week program will be conducted under the guidance of Bosphorus University’s Assoc. Doc. Koray Durak and aim at delving into how the synthesis of Byzantine empire came into being as a result of its combination of Roman state traditions, Greek language, and Christianity. Examining how the Byzantine Empire survived and prospered in the Eastern Mediterranean that was also home to Muslims, Slavs, Turks, and Crusaders in the Middle Ages, this intensive course will provide the participants with a sound introduction to Byzantine politics, economy, culture and religion.

The program will be held in English for the first time and the courses will take place every week on Thursday between 19.00 and 21.30 throughout November.

Participation fee for the adult education programs is 600 TL.
