Şeyh Hamdullah ( -1520)

Calligraphic album

The album is of the concertina type, containing four kıt’as; the first three are in the format one line of sülüs followed by three lines of nesih, and the last in one line of sülüs and four lines of nesih. All four texts consist of pronouncements by the Prophet Muhammad concerning the next world, and good and evil. The fourth line of nesih in the final kıt’a is the calligrapher’s colophon reading, ‘written by the humble İbnü’ş Şeyh’. The margins of the kıt’as are in vassale collage using marbled paper.
