Kuzgun Acar. The Story of a Restoration

“Birds - Abstract Composition” by noted Turkish sculptor Kuzgun Acar, created for the facade of Istanbul Manufacturers Market in 1967, is being displayed at the S.U. Sakıp Sabancı Museum from June 24, 2016 until October 23, 2016.

“Birds - Abstract Composition” has recently been restored from natural corrosion, following the lengthy and successful restoration project which was initiated in 2013 by Cultural Awareness Foundation with the support of Istanbul Manufacturers Market, as well as the logistic support of Fatih Municipality. Following its successful restoration, the work will be displayed within the context of a museum for the first time at Sakıp Sabancı Museum.

As the artwork prepares to return to the Istanbul Manufacturers Market facade it was created for, following the three-year restoration project under the roof of Cultural Awareness Foundation, its exhibition at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum will also mark the 40th year of its artist, Kuzgun Acar’s, passing.

This project has been realized with the partnership of S.U. Sakıp Sabancı Museum and Cultural Awareness Foundation.
